This week's menu - it's been a whileAfter traveling for three weeks, I've been thinking about how to spend more time interacting with my kids and less time trying to get them to play quietly while I cook and clean. Last July I was making lists of what I was planning to cook for the week (see This week's menu) and it made the weekday evenings a lot easier. My kids don't eat everything on the menu so I often offer peanut butter and jelly, which they love and can't take to school for lunch, or pasta...

Great idea!
I have also gotten away from my weekly meal planning and need to start up again. It really does make mealtime prep so much easier and less stressful. I also spend less on groceries because I don't need to run to the market for last minute ingredients (even if I'm running in for one thing, I still end up spending $50 or more!) and can plan my meals around what's on sale at the store that week.
I'm lucky that my kids will eat most of the things I cook. If they try everything offered and don't like any of it, they can have cereal or pb&j. If they only like some of it, then they can focus on that. In all, I think they eat enough variety that only eating rice or bread at one meal isn't going to hurt them in the long run.
I know tonight I'll be making something with shrimp. I'll check my fridge and freezer for other meal ideas and put together the menu for the week.
Thanks for spurring me on!
