Introducing EastCoastMom...HighMaintenanceMom.com would like to introduce EastCoastMom, a partner and primary writer. In celebration of the new partnership, the HighMaintenanceMom user name will change to WestCoastMom to allow for more discussions about raising kids on the opposite coasts. Both Moms have been friends since they were 6 years old and while they have a lot in common and share the same goals, they often have different methods of reaching them... WestCoastMom has two active boys, ages 2 and 4. She has a full-time job outside the home and both kids are in full-day preschool. EastCoastMom is a stay-at-home mom with a beautiful girl who is a year old. The goal of this new partnership is to bring you more articles from different perspectives and more reviews of products for a wider range of ages and interests.

Thank you
Thank you westcoastmom, I am very excited to be on board and bring exciting new information to highmaintenancemom.com! I am spreading the word about HMM and hope to see some new faces on the site with fun articles about parenting life all across America and Canada.
Looking forward to hearing more about life on the East Coast
It was a warm weekend out here and I had to scramble to get sunscreen on the kids before they ran around the park. At 10am N put his head on my shoulder and told me it had been a long day helping me to remember kids need lots of liquids on hot days. After a little shade, some water, and a snack, he was back to playing with a friend at the park.
Earlier, I was talking with another parent about having boys when I looked over to witness the younger one point a big stick at the older one and the older one hurl a soccer ball at his brother's face. Of course that ended the adult conversation I was enjoying but no one was hurt and the kids were happy to continue playing together. I have a feeling you don't have the same playground issues...
Playing outside
Believe it or not, today was really the first day little A and I were able to go outside without wearing 10 layers! We walked around the neighborhood and played with friends down the street. Little A still needs to be watched while playing but she went right for her favorite toy, anything round, and had a blast. The squirrels gave her dirty looks as she gathered up all of their nuts and presented them to me. I am looking forward to tomorrow when it will be almost 70 degrees.
Playing outside
Michael and I are going outside this morning...it is already 50 degrees here in Northern Michigan which is warm for us so we are planning to bring out the trucks and the cars before we get more snow this weekend. Michael is really into exploring and with our 29 acres I think he will find all sorts of "things" to bring home to mom....he is really into "bugs"...
Have a great day.
29 acres sounds perfect
Our yard in the Bay Area is about the size of two king mattresses, which isn't as big as I would like for the two boys. I've been amazed by how interested the boys are in trucks, cars, dirt, tools, and bugs. We have several bug carriers (variations on a plastic box with a magnifying lens at the top). Sometimes the kids make houses for the worms and bugs they find. I'm not a huge fan of the bugs but I'm really working on looking interested. I find the bug house at the zoo a little challenging but I'm learning to identify the super huge bugs I hope I never meet anywhere else.
