Other toy recalls due to lead

Thank you for the post. It's scary how lead has found its way back into our kids' toys. Here is an article in the NYTimes from June about the Thomas & Friends recall. Earlier this year it seemed that we were safe as long as we didn't buy from Dollar Stores. Now it appears that the toys we overpay for are also potentially dangerous.

We had bought one of the questionable Thomas trains. Costco sent us a a letter telling us about the recall and how we could bring the toy back to them for a refund. Due to my travel schedule this summer, the Skarloey train has been sitting on our counter waiting to be returned. Now that I'm back, I'm planning to return it tomorrow.

Another item that was recalled earlier this year was jewelry made from leftover computer parts. Someone gave us a mobile for our wedding that was made of computer parts. I was concerned about it and left it in the package but the latest recall news has made me think about it again. I'm planning to search the house for it this weekend and take it to one of the places that takes old computers for safe disposal.

Very sad

My husband emailed the list to me during one of his trips to Asia. I checked and found one item that was on the list but the serial number was in the clear. It makes a parent angry (just like I was when the Veggie Booty was recalled) to think that we can do only so much for our kids and harm still comes to them. I guess I was naive to think I could protect my kids while they were under my roof and I was doing the food and product buying.
