Planning a seder for kidsThe first night of Passover is this Saturday night and we are once again thinking about how our celebration will change each year as the kids get older. We often start reading the stories to the kids the week before. Our kids love the (Sammy Spider Passover books (story, fun book, and haggadah) Prior to the seder, we had an egg hunt (as I mentioned in a comment Modified Easter Crafts for Passover) to build and decorate seder plates. We also watched several shows on ancient Egypt. I also bought plastic wine glasses for the kids' grape juice. They felt very grown up drinking out of glasses like ours. I also turned the search for the afikomen into a treasure hunt. Our oldest and another child could both read so I had two teams and several clues. Once the afikomen was found, everyone got a small book. Each year it gets a little easier as the kids learn the customs and look forward to the different foods.

Family Seder
Last year was our first Seder with our daughter (then 1 1/2) and now she is 2 1/2 and we also have a 6 month old son. My husband is Jewish so we go his his cousins house and have lots of fun. My daughter sits so patiently while the older kids read the story of Passover at the table. I love all holidays and all loving religions so I am very excited to dress the kids up and enjoy this time with family.
