Father's Day the Green & Healthy Way

Father's Day doesn't have to mean yet another tie or tool. It can be a day of relaxation, fun times with the kids and green gifts. As a child, I gave a lot of simple, homemade gifts like special photographs in papers frames, poems, short stories and once a slide show. My husband has asked to sleep in on Father's Day. May seem simple but it's a huge deal when you have young kids. In addition to these ideas, there are many simple and green gift ideas for Dad..... My husband drinks a lot of water but all those plastic bottles rolling around in his car seemed very wasteful. We are already using a Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles for my daughter's water so I thought it might be a good idea for all those water drinking Dad's out there. Yes, a hat is an accessory like a tie but during the summer months, a Dad's head and face need to be protected. My husband golf's weekly and I am always reminding him to wear sunscreen and a Columbia Sportswear Men's Omni-Shade Booney Cap. In the same vein as my homemade paper frames comes an eco friendly Memorex 7" Eco Friendly Digital Photo Frame. Finally, this is one we have already. Totally Bamboo Kauai Cutting Board are the best. These are just a few Father's Day ideas that arent ties or tools. The best gift is time with the kids.

Juicer

More to follow on this but on Father's Day we did the healthy thing and tried out the new juicer I got from my in laws. It was lots of fun for all of us and it was delicious. We started simply and did carrots and a lime. My kids loved it. Tonight we did beets, apples and celery. Again we added a lime to make it fresher. I will do a post on this very soon. Feel like I need a good juicing recipe book.
