National Audubon Society-a worthy investmentMy family chooses only a few organizations that we donate to or become members of because, let's face it, everyone wants our/your money. Our local Audubon society is one membership we happily renew each year. It allows us access to many local farms, sanctuaries and hiking groups normally hidden away. The kids love seeing the animals at the local farm and I love contributing to a very worthwhile organization. Our local Audubon Society (www.massaudubon.org or www.audubon.org) has over a dozen summer camps that are all American Camp Association accredited. There are so many wonderful programs from seeing amazing creatures of the sea walking through the forest to a protected beach, where you will explore shallow waters and learn what is just under your feet to a day of butterfly walks and talks, butterfly crafts, kids' activities, tours of the butterfly garden, a butterfly costume contest a local Massachusetts Audubon sanctuary. Check out your local Audubon Society and see what's in it for you and your kids. Sometimes it is nice to get out of the house, leave the toys behind and just have fun with nature. Enjoy! |
