H1N1-thinking, reading, debating, worring......doing

I am lucky enough to live near a city with some of the best medical facilities in the world so I have no problem trusting the medical advice they give me. So when Mr. H1N1 came to town and a vaccine become available I started researching and talking to everyone and anyone. I was open to theories, conversations and debates. I found a lot of information through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at www.cdc.gov. I also searched the New York Times web site at www.nytimes.com for articles from doctors and researchers. I called my pediatrician friends, ER doctor friend, my kids pediatrician and my fellow parents for their take on all of the H1N1 uproar. Some days I wanted to bag the whole idea of a vaccine and others thought it was a must. As it stands now, I have made an appointment for dose #1 of the H1N1 mist for my two children ages two and four. I will continue to watch for news about any reactions for those who have had the mist in the few weeks before my kids first dose and trust my decision for my family. My kids will also get the seasonal flu shot which they get each year. My husband and I will get both vaccines as well. Have I made the right decision? I may never know but what I do know is that I have researched the issue and have come up with a decision I live with.

round #1 done

Both my kids got the mist dose #1 last week....hope they have enough for round 2 in a few weeks....

dose #2 suspended

Just got a call from the Pediatrician and dose #2 mist for the kids has been postponed until everyone who wants dose #1 gets it....mid December she thinks.
